Description |
Circular oil well with two short, medium-deep spouts with circular nozzles. Discus in concave and bears the remnants of a moulded relief that is now far too worn to make out (perhaps Venus riding a dolphin?); fill hole is off-center to accommodate design. Volute scrolls connect two nozzles and flank the outer edge of each. Heat guard is triangular, also too worn for relief to be made out (possibly a bust of Serapis?). Small hole on surface of guard. No carry-loop on bottom. Circular foot severely worn. Surface covered in various cracks, burrs, and scrapes. Nozzles both blackened. |
