Biography |
Gail Tremblay is an artist and poet whose work has been widely exhibited and anthologized. Her work draws upon the traditional culture of her native Onondaga / Mi'kmaq heritage. Tremblay's poetry and art point to the "natural way" and the "web of light" that is life. Tremblay has three published collections of poetry. "Night Gives Woman the Word" from F Limited Gallery, "Talking to the Grandfathers" from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and "Indian Singing" from Calyx Books (Corvallis, OR). Her work has appeared in "Harper's Anthology of Twentieth Century Native American Poetry," "New Voices from the Longhouse," "Dancing on the Rim of the World," "Returning the Gift," and "Literature Around the Globe," among others. Originally from the northeastern part of the continent, Tremblay's connection with the Pacific Northwest dates from the late 1960s. She currently teaches programs in the visual and creative arts at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. |
